What TaleCraft is
TaleCraft is a bedtime-story app for children aged three to six, used with a parent or carer. Your child chooses the parts on the playmat. AI services write and paint the story, and the hero reads it aloud.
No account
There is nothing to sign up for. Child profiles, including names, ages and look words, are saved on the phone. Deleting the app removes those local profiles and saved stories. When you make a story, the details described below are sent to the services that make it.
What leaves the phone, and to whom
Story text is written by OpenAI models through TaleCraft's server-side proxy, AIProxy. The request includes the child's first name, age and chosen story parts. When the child appears in the story, it can also include the appearance details you chose. Your own words, wishes, grown-up story preferences and returning characters can form part of the request.
Pictures are painted by an OpenAI image model from scene and character descriptions. These can include the child's chosen appearance and age. The app removes the child's first name from its picture prompts.
The reading voice is synthesised by ElevenLabs from the story text, which can include the child's first name.
The voices in TaleCraft are AI-generated, not recordings of a person.
“Say what you want” uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. The app listens while you use this feature, but does not save a recording or upload the child's voice. The recognised words fill the steps; those chosen words may then be included in a story request.
Purchases
Purchases go through Apple. We never see your payment details. Builds using RevenueCat also send purchase and subscription information to that service to check access to TaleCraft Plus, using an anonymous app identifier. No child profile is needed to restore a purchase.
Analytics
There are no usage analytics in the app. This website uses Vercel Analytics for cookieless, aggregate visit statistics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure page performance. They do not identify you to us or track you across other websites.
Children
The app is for children aged three to six with a parent. There are no ads or advertising trackers. A grown-up chooses what to share, and we do not ask children to create an account or send us contact details. Personal details chosen for a story are processed as described above, so please only enter what you are comfortable sharing for that purpose.
Your choices
Delete the app to remove local profiles and stories. This does not cancel a subscription or remove information already processed by a service. You can write to us to ask about your information or request its deletion. We do not keep an account database of child profiles. If you email us, we receive your email address and the message so we can help you.
